Benedict’s Law and Allergy Safety
At Hillside Nursery School, we take allergies and anaphylaxis very seriously.
We follow the principles of Benedict’s Law and have an onsite Anaphylaxis KITT.
Adrenaline Injector Pens
If a child has been prescribed an adrenaline auto-injector (AAI), such as an EpiPen, we make sure their injector is safely stored and easily accessible in an emergency.
Relevant staff are made aware of the child’s allergy and know where their injector is kept. Staff receive appropriate training on how to use an adrenaline injector.
Emergency Allergy Kit
We also keep an emergency allergy kit onsite (KITT Medical)
The kit is kept in our wrap around classroom. It is checked regularly to make sure the equipment is available and in date.
The kit includes includes 4 Adrenaline Auto-Injectors. x2 150mg (for children aged 6 and under) and x2 300mg (for children and adults 6+).
Our priority is to act quickly and safely if a child has a serious allergic reaction.
The safety of every child in our care is our priority.
